2013 Jay Summer Fest in Jay, VT

Recognized and touted by local Burlington community residents as one of the most anticipated summer events, this year’s Jay, VT Summer Fest on Saturday, August 10 promises to outdo the rest! It’s the sixth annual Jay Summer Fest, and Vermont families are gearing up to pack that day with traditional Vermont fun. Out-of-state tourists are already making local reservations to ensure a great ‘seat’ for the festivities.


Besides being a showcase for typical New England small town fun, the 2013 Jay Summer Fest in Jay, VT will feature a host of fundraising events sure to raise smiles too.


The fun begins at 9:00am for most of the featured events, and lasts until 4:00pm. At the 9:00am start time, The Great Land Trust Rush Race – Bike, Hike or Run begins. Sign-up for this event is up until 8:30am. Earlier entrants may sign-up Monday through Thursday from 7:00am until 4:00pm at the Jay Town Hall.


Once signed in, entrants will convene at the Jay Community Rec. Ctr. on Cross Road. They will park there and ride the shuttle to the race’s starting point on Gendron Road. The course is about two miles with the bikers’ starting at 9:00am and the runners and hikers starting at 9:05am. Donation/registration is a small $5.00 fee, 100 percent of which goes to support trail maintenance and development for the Jay Community Rec. Ctr.


In addition, there is a whole ‘slew’ of other fun events including:


• 8:00am to 10:00am – Drop off your Best Brownie Contest entry at Jay Town Hall – sponsored by King Arthur Flour – Winners announced at 12:00 noon.

• 9:00am – Cow Plop fundraiser 50/50 Raffle tickets go on sale – Cow moo-ves in at 1:30pm

• 9:00am to 3:00pm – Face painting

• 9:00am to 3:00pm – “Art on the Fence” presentation sponsored by Wooden Horses Arts Guild

• 9:00am to 3:00pm – Silent Auction featuring gift baskets, golf packages, cord of wood, much more!

• 9:00am to 4:00pm – tag sale – fundraiser

• 9:00am to 4:00pm – Small Electronics Recycling Box – fundraiser – Jay Town Hall

• 9:00am to 4:00pm – over 50 vendors in attendance, including the Jay Village Farmer’s Market

• 10:00am to 3:00pm – American Red Cross Blood Drive

• 10:30am – Parade

• 11:00am to 2:00pm – Kids activities and games

• 12:00am to 3:00pm – Ice Cream Social – fundraiser

• 12:30 to 4:00pm – Live music – Debby Murphy & the Echoes

• 12:30pm Horseshoe Tournament – fundraiser – held at the Jay Village Inn
