August is Art Month in The Mad River Valley with the Vermont Festival of the Arts

Few people are as aware of local community events as those who work in the real estate industry. It is part of our job to provide the types of information to our clients that will help them get a feel for the types of activities that are going on in a specific area. This summer marks one of the most popular events of all, the Vermont Festival of the Arts.

Art Month in The Mad River Valley with the 16th Annual Vermont Festival of the Arts is a highlight event for the Valley Arts Foundation. Artists and lovers of art converge for the festival from all over the world each year, to participate in its offerings of Family Fun Events, workshops, music and even culinary arts events. Art at the festival includes theatre arts, photography, sculpture and so much more. There is something for everyone at this fun, action-packed event with its distinct Vermont flavor. The festival runs from the beginning of August, all the way through Labor Day.

One of the big opening festival events will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 3:00 with the Festival Picnic, compliments of Lareau Farm Inn. Visitors can mingle and socialize while they nosh on their favorite picnic fare, followed by an exciting volley of stunning fireworks sparkling across the evening sky. The picnic is the first of many outstanding events that delight visitors to the festival each year.

Among the more than 125 arts-related activities and events featured at the festival is the Waitsfield Art Walk. The walk takes place along Route 100 as a tour of the outstanding array of museums, galleries and art-related stores that Waitsfield offers visitors. All will be provided opportunities to see glass blowers at work, stained glass artists, painters and more as they drift from venue to venue enjoying a truly artful experience.

Families with children of all ages can opt to participate in one or more of the dozens of specially designed art-related festival events. There are many hands-on art demonstrations, studio tours, children’s workshops and Plein Air painting galore! Those who prefer musical or theater arts to visual arts have plenty to choose from as well. The festival has an ongoing list of concerts and theatre events that can please any taste.

There is no other festival like the Vermont Festival of the Arts anywhere in the world. This is one not to miss!
